Bass lake convenience station capital project "because nature calls, we are providing an answer" Notice: The donor recognition board on site is updated every two weeks.
Future plans for Moses H. Cone Memorial Park measure the acceptability to begin this new construction. The School of Design and Applied Technology at Appalachian State University will be designing the restrooms to be finished in materials consistent with the early architecture of the estate --- either clapboard, board and baton, or wooden shingle. The University will be providing some of the labor to be supervised by the National Park Service. There will be a covered porch to give shelter during heavy storms. The supervising architect for the project is Gray Franceschi of Charlotte, NC who provided pro bono architectural services for the expansion of the Museum of North Carolina Minerals in Spruce Pine. For recognition of his services, he was the recipient of Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation's R. Getty Browning Award for Architecture and Engineering. R. Getty Browning was the locating engineer for the Parkway in North Carolina and the father of local Blowing Rock resident, Harriet Davant. The campaign goal is $125,000. Other than significant detailing to render the building compatible with the estate, water and sewer lines will be run to US221. Please help us provide a place for that special call! Use the donation envelope available at the Bass Lake project sign or call the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, 336.721.0260. Contributions can be taken over the phone. Secure online donations can be made on the Foundation's secure server. Mark "Bass Lake" in the special instructions window.
