Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation Recognizes Chetola Resort’s Contributions as a Parkway Plus Partner
On Friday, March 30th, the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation presented Chetola Resort at Blowing Rock with a framed certificate recognizing their contributions as a Parkway Plus Partner. Since 2006, Chetola’s guests have contributed $63,761 to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation through their participation in the Parkway Plus program.
The Parkway Plus program allows patrons at participating restaurant and lodging partners to add $1 or more to their bill as a donation to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. Currently, the program has 18 lodging partners and 6 restaurants participating in the program in towns and communities along the length of the Parkway. To see a list of our partners, visit www.parkwayplus.org . Christy Bell, Director of Development for the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation says “As a founding partner, Chetola has provided great leadership to this program by providing the opportunity for thousands of guests to protect the Parkway each and every year.”
Chetola was a founding partner in the program, and their contributions support the Parks as Classrooms program, which introduces national park resources to students and teachers by sending Blue Ridge Parkway rangers into classrooms in
the 29 counties adjacent to the Parkway. Kent Tarbutton, owner of Chetola Resort says, “Parks as Classrooms is a wonderful program that teaches students and teachers to understand serious environmental concerns such as air pollution and issues that threaten our magnificent views. Students in this program will be the spokespeople of tomorrow and carry forward these issues to the next generation.
