Parkway Stories from August 2011

History and the BRP

In July of 2008, my wife and I rode our Harley-Davidson Road King from NE Tennessee to visit Appomattox Courthouse and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.

Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway

I rode south from PA to meet a friend from FL in Cherokee, at the start of the Parkway. The weather was perfect, a bit cool but no rain.

Our first trip with the new Harley

We had a great time running through the North Carolina section, however the Virginia section was the most area. The first night we stand in Blowing Rock aund met some awesome bikers from Virginia.

Best motorcycle road ever (so far...)

My cousin and I traveled the whole thing (plus the Skyline Drive through Shenandoah) last May. I rode a 1994 Honda ST1100 sport-touring bike and my cousin Dwight rode his 2009 KLR dual-sport.

Winging It Up The Blue Ridge Parkway

We started the journey in 2006 on our Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. I rode from Illinois to Knoxville for the Honda Hoot rally.
