My fiance and I rode our motorcycles from Marco Island Florida to Boston, Massachusetts May 19th thru May 28th 2012. The Blue Ridge Parkway was a must see for us. We rode the entire length over a span of 3 days. We look forward to riding it again soon!
It is my fourth trip by motorcycle, up and back on the Blue Ridge and Skyline Parkways! I have done it twice by myself, once with the wife on the back and this time with my friend, Jim Dennis.
My GF and I rode in in both directions on my Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic. We started in Cherokee and spent the first night in Little Switzerland. We detoured off for a few hours to visit the Andy Griffith museum in Mt. Airy. From there we returned to the Parkway and spent the next night in Roanoke, VA. We then went on to Waynesville, VA and spent the third night. Our trip home was made in two days. A long time dream finally became a reality. Me and a friend each on motorcycles traveled from North Atlanta to Cherokee, NC to start our ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rode the entire Parkway (except for the 22 mile detour near Sparta NC) north then the Skyline to Luray, Va in 2 days. Turned around and made the exact same trip south on the Skyline and Blue Parkway except on the return we were able to ride the complete 469 miles on Parkway without the detour. What an incredible journey. We are so fortunate to be able to enjoy something like this which is truly an national treasure.
