For my 50 birthday, I wanted to ride my bike 50 miles on the BRP. Leaving my home in Alexandria, Va, I traveled by car to the Shenandoah National Park and started my drive to Boone NC.
Bicycled the parkway from south to north over 7 days in Sept 2012 with friend Chad Jerde. Trip coincided with the remnants of Hurricane Isaac, resulting in 6/7 days with moderate to heavy rain.
North Carolina MG Car Club sponsors an annual fall tour to the Blue Ridge Mountains. We completed the "middle" part of the parkway in 2010, then on to Virgina for the northern part in 2011.
