Kids in Parks
Kids in Parks is a program of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation and was formed through a partnership between the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation. Working together with partners throughout the country, their mission is to promote children’s health and the health of our parks by engaging families in outdoor adventures that increase physical activity and foster a meaningful connection to the natural and cultural world.
Working with community partners throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains and the country, Kids in Parks is building a network of TRACK Trail adventures designed to help kids explore nature. Each TRACK Trail has a series of self-guided brochures designed to turn an ordinary hike into a fun-filled, discovery-packed adventure. Within the pages of each brochure a different story unfolds. From Nature's Relationships to Fern Identification, each brochure-led adventure will help children and their families connect with their natural and cultural world. TRACK Trails are fun, healthy and free… And, kids who register their TRACK Trail adventures on the Kids in Parks website earn valuable prizes designed to make their next outdoor adventure more fun.
