Tell Your Story

Parkway visitors have their own remembrances of the Blue Ridge Parkway; in a sense, their own heritage paths — their favorite places which are often childhood memories.

We have several categories of stories that we capture and share:

  • Stories from those lucky enough to have traveled the entire length of the Parkway can be found at our End-to-ender blog.  If you’ve traveled the Parkway from end-to-end, we invite you to become a member of our “End-to-enders” group by applying here to receive your certificate and award.
  • Every personalized NC Blue Ridge Parkway specialty plate has a unique story behind it.  You can read those stories in our Plate Story blog.  If you have a personalized NC Blue Ridge Parkway specialty plate, share a photo and the story behind your plate here.
  • Other memories and stories can be read in our stories blog.  Feel free to share your own special Parkway memory here:Parkway staff at the Gillespie Gap Ranger Station, 1957. Courtesy of the Foundation Archives

Here are some questions that may prompt you to write your story:

  • Was there another family member who enjoyed the Blue Ridge Parkway?
  • Is there a specific place along the Parkway that you enjoy?
  • Is there a special activity that you enjoy – picnics, hiking, etc.?
  • Was there a special event in your life that occurred on the Parkway?
