Fourth Annual End-to-Ender Journey
>Completed my fourth end-to-end journey on the BRP as part of the Tar Heel MINI's run. Not just my fourth time - it is four years in a row I've done it. Every year that I've owned my MINI it has made the journey. This year we once again made the run from the north end to the south end over a long weekend. As always, it was a fabulous ride from the sweeping vistas up in the Virginia area, to the historical/cultural stops in the northern NC area, to the high and twisty portions near the end. On Saturday, we hit the thunderstorms between Asheville and Little Switzerland. The group I was with soldiered on to the top of Mt. Mitchell where I got buffeted a bit by some extreme wind. The turkey by the side of the road didn't seem to mind the storm too much though as he watch us pass by. Luckily, we completed our journey before the sign at the highest point was vandalized, so got a nice pic there. Looking forward to doing it again next summer!
