Join us as we delve into these questions and more with our first webinar of the year at 11. a.m., Tuesday, January 25. Alexa Viets, Chief of Resource Management and Interpretation for the Blue Ridge Parkway, will lead the free 30-minute presentation exploring the trends in park visitation.
About the Presenter
Alexa Viets is the Chief of Resource Management and Interpretation for the Blue Ridge Parkway. She leads a team of 19 permanent staff of interpreters, cultural resource managers, natural resource scientists and planning and design professionals, as well as overseeing 20 to 25 additional seasonal interpretive rangers and the Parkway’s visitor center operations. She joined the Blue Ridge Parkway team in the spring of 2017.
Prior to her time on the Parkway, Viets served as the Acting Chief of Staff for the Director in Washington, D.C., for seven months during the transition period from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration.
From 2012 to 2016, Viets served as the National Park Service Chief of the Centennial Office responsible for leading national efforts to commemorate the agency’s 100th anniversary in 2016. As Chief of the Centennial Office, she worked with the leadership of the agency, staff across the country and many partners to implement the Find Your Park campaign and numerous events and programs to launch the agency into its second century and connect with a new generation of park visitors, supporters and advocates.
