Louis Bissette practices law in the areas of economic development, land use, and zoning. He is highly engaged in his community and has been honored with numerous awards, including the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Public Service Award and Wake Forest’s Distinguished Alumni Award. From 1895-1989, he served as the mayor of Asheville. Bissette earned a bachelor of arts in history from Wake Forest University before going on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law and his MBA from the University of Virginia Graduate School of Business Administration. He also serves as a trustee for Wake Forest University and vice chairman of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
