Lonesome River Band’s landmark album, Carrying the Tradition, ushered in a new era for bluegrass by acknowledging tradition while introducing new elements that expanded the genre. Now, 34 years and 17 albums later, this award-winning band continues its reputation as one of the most respected names in bluegrass music. The group has earned numerous IBMA awards, including Album of the Year and Bluegrass Band of the Year, and Vocal Group of the Year from SPBGMA. Leader Sammy Shelor claimed Banjo Player of the year from both organizations and the second annual Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass. With two stellar lead vocalists, Brandon Rickman (guitar) and newest member Jesse Smathers (mandolin), and the impressive talents of Mike Hartgrove (fiddle) and Barry Reed (bass), the band seamlessly comes together, performing the trademark sound that fans continue to embrace. At the show, the audience is sure to hear songs from their latest release, Bridging the Tradition.

Carson Peters & Iron Mountain is comprised of two father-son teams (Jamie and Carson Peters of The Carson Peters Band and Eric and Ben Marshall of The Marshall Brothers Band). They are joined by Austin Tate on mandolin. Carson Peters is a young fiddle player who has already been featured on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. Carson, Eric, and Austin are three members of the award winning youth band Crossties. Dad’s Eric on banjo, and Jamie on guitar, round out the group.

Tickets are $20. Visit blueridgemusiccenter.org or call (866) 308-2773, ext. 245
